Annual Report 2015–16

New models of teaching and learning have been explored for the benefits of our students and teachers. New Programme Promotes Gender Studies The Gender Studies Programme introduced in 2015–16 a brand- new ‘Bachelor of Social Science Programme in Gender Studies’, Hong Kong’s first-ever undergraduate major programme in gender studies in its field. The multi-disciplinary programme offers a broad-based and in-depth understanding of local and cross-cultural issues related to gender ideology, institutions, and relationships, as well as the connection between gender, social justice, equality, and peace. E-Learning and Online Teaching The Centre for eLearning Innovation and Technology (ELITE) was set up in early 2016 to further improve teaching and learning at CUHK. ELITE provides professional facilities, technical support, and training to teachers who wish to adopt e-learning strategies. The Centre also assists teachers to apply multimedia courseware and implement Micro-Module, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and other e-learning initiatives. The Centre has in place studios and a working area (with editing workstations) for teachers to create video and multimedia contents. Enhanced Teaching and Learning: in Step With the Times Education—Nourishing Minds and Building Character
