International collaborative effort has always buttressed and renewed the research strengths of CUHK. MOE Key Laboratory of Regenerative Medicine With the approval of the Ministry of Education (MOE), CUHK joined hands with Jinan University, its long-term partner in regenerative medicine research, in March 2016 to establish the MOE Key Laboratory of Regenerative Medicine (The Chinese University of Hong Kong–Jinan University). The Laboratory would further their collaborative efforts in developing various innovative techniques for regenerative tissues and organs for the betterment of human health. Joint Research Centre for Chinese Linguistics In the same month, CUHK also formalized a landmark collaboration with the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) to establish the CUHK–BLCU Joint Research Centre for Chinese Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. This is the second of the only two research extension units in Hong Kong that are at the national level in the humanities and the social sciences, a testimony to CUHK’s research capabilities and leading position in such fields. An International Symposium on Chinese Language and the World followed immediately the inauguration of the Joint Research Centre, bringing together linguistic scholars from the US, Europe, Southeast Asia, mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao to share research findings on Chinese linguistics, second language teaching, acquisition and bilingualism. 國際合作一直是中大研究實力的基 礎，也是賦予其新活力的源泉。 再生醫學教育部重點實驗室 中大獲國家教育部批准，於 2016 年 3 月與長期合作夥伴暨南大學聯手成 立再生醫學教育部重點實驗室（香 港中文大學—暨南大學）。實驗室將 促進兩校合作，共同發展人體組織 和器官的再生技術，改善人類健康。 語言學聯合研究中心 同月，中大也與北京語言大學簽署協 議，成立「香港中文大學—北京語言 大學漢語語言學與應用語言學聯合 研究中心」，是雙方合作的里程碑。 全港僅有兩個人文社會科學國家級 重點研究基地的延伸機構，此聯合 研究中心是其一，這充分體現中大在 人文社會科學領域的研究實力與領 導地位。中心成立後即舉行漢語與 世界高峰論壇，論壇滙聚來自美國、 歐洲、東南亞、中國內地、香港及澳 門的語言學學者，交流和探討漢語 語言學、第二語言教學、語言學習及 雙語研究等領域的研究成果。 建立新聯繫 New Links 36 香港中文大學年報 CUHK Annual Report 2015–2016
