Thanks to the unremitting support from our community of friends, the University continued to forge ahead with our academic research and nurturing of our students. Brain and Mind Institute The opening ceremony for the Brain and Mind Institute (BMI), set up with a generous donation from the Dr. Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation, took place in November 2015. At the ceremony, Mr. Patrick W.M. Huen (middle, photo above), Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, presented a cheque to the University. BMI draws on the strengths of experts from different academic and clinical disciplines to conduct research on developmental disorders covering speech and language impairment, autism, dyslexia, etc. Research Centre for Prevention of Dementia Ms. Therese Pei Fong Chow’s benefaction has helped the Faculty of Medicine to establish Hong Kong’s first dementia prevention research centre—the Therese Pei Fong Chow Research Centre for Prevention of Dementia—in July 2016. The Centre aims at preventing and delaying the onset of dementia through innovative research and education, and developing and promoting effective preventive measures or treatments. 大學得到各方友好的支持，在學術 科研、學生培育方面不斷擴充。 大腦與認知研究所 何鴻燊博士醫療拓展基金會捐款 成立的「大腦與認知研究所」在 2015 年 11 月舉行成立典禮，基金會 信託委員會副主席暨行政委員會主 席 永明先生（上圖中）致送捐款 支票予大學。該所結合不同醫學和 臨床學科專家的知識，研究言語障 礙、自閉症、讀寫障礙等問題。 認知障礙研究中心 醫學院獲周佩芳律師慷慨捐款，在 2016 年 7 月成立全港首個預防認知 障礙的研究中心，命名為「周佩芳 認知障礙預防研究中心」。此中心 旨在藉創新研究與社區教育，以及 研發和推廣有效預防措施或治療， 達至預防和延緩認知障礙症發病的 目標。 社會賢達鼓舞支持 Encouraging Support from Philanthropists 46 香港中文大學年報 CUHK Annual Report 2015–2016
