Annual Report 2015–16

CUHK’s spacious and idyllic campus has always been the envy of many, and the University has consistently garnered recognition for its tireless efforts in preserving its campus environment. Green Achievements That Make Us Proud During the year, CUHK was voted ‘My Favourite Green Campus: Tertiary Institution’ by the public for the third time and received the ‘U Green Award 2015’, themed ‘Green Intelligence’, from the organizer U Magazine . In recognition of its benchmark achievement in terms of waste reduction, energy saving, indoor air quality improvement, and carbon reduction, the University was awarded the ‘Hong Kong Green Organisation’ certificate by the Environmental Campaign Committee and the HKSAR Environmental Protection Department. In addition, the University attained the FoodEver Award (Diamond) from the Hong Kong Women Professionals & Entrepreneurs Association’s FoodEver WasteNever Programme, as well as ‘Class of Excellence’ Wastewi$e Label (2015 – 16) awarded by the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence. Among 70-plus green building projects from the Asia-Pacific region vying for the ‘FuturArc Green Leadership Award 2016 (Merit Award—Institutional)’, the CUHK Library Extension (photo above) became Hong Kong’s only architectural project to receive the coveted award, a testament to the University’s commitment to green building concept and sustainability. 中大校園廣闊優美，向為人所稱羡。 大學為保護校園環境付出的努力，屢 獲肯定。 環保成就驕人 在本報告年度中，中大第三度獲公 眾選為「我最喜愛的香港綠色校園： 大專院校」，得到 U Magazine 頒發 「 2015 『您』想綠色生活大獎」；是 年選舉的主題為「惜用。識棄」。 此外，大學又獲環境運動委員會及 環境保護署頒授「香港綠色機構認 證」，認可本校在減廢、節能、室內空 氣及減碳等方面達到的環保標準， 以及香港女工商及專業人員聯會舉 辦的「傳承惜食計劃」鑽石級獎項， 又於 2015 至 16 年度的香港環保卓越 計劃獲頒「卓越級別」減廢標誌。 多番獲獎的圖書館新翼大樓（李達 三葉耀珍伉儷大樓）（上圖）再獲殊 榮，奪得「 FuturArc 環保設計先鋒大 獎」優異獎，成為七十多個亞太區 綠色建築項目中唯一獲獎的香港單 位，足證本校對環保建造的投入和 對可持續發展的堅持。 維護永續校園 Ongoing Initiatives for a Sustainable Campus 52 香港中文大學年報 CUHK Annual Report 2015–2016
