(c) all the A p p o i n t e d Teachers and Recognized Lecturers i n the subject concerned ； and ( d ) such A p p o i n t ed Teachers and Recognized Lecturers in other subjects as in the opinion of the Senate c o n t r i b u te substantially to the teaching of students w h o are pursuing courses i n the subject i n w h i ch the Board i s established. 3. Each Board of Studies shall elect a Ch a i r man f r om among those of its members who are Directors of Un i v e r s i ty Studies for such period as may be determined by the Senate. STATUTE 15 Academic Staff T h e academic staff of the Un i v e r s i ty shall consist of-- (a) the V i c e - Ch a n c e l l o r; (b) the Presiden t of each of the Colleges ； (c) one Vice-President f r om each of the Colleges ； (d) the A p p o i n t ed Teachers who shall be the Professors, Readers and Senior Lecturers; (e) the Recognized L e c t u r e r s; ( f ) the L i b r a r i a n; and (g) such other persons as the Co u n c il on the recommendation of the Senate may prescribe. STATUTE 16 Boards of Advisers 1. A Board o f Advisers shall be constituted as follows fo r each a p p o i n t me nt of Professor, Reader and Senior L e c t u r e r— (a) the Vice-Chancellor, w h o shall be Ch a i rma n, or a deputy appointed by h i m ; (b) the President of the Colleg e to wh i ch the post is assigned, or a deputy appointed by h i m ； (c) one member of the Council, appointe d by the Council, w h o is not a memb er of the College to w h i ch the post is assigned ； (d) one memb e r appointed by the Board of Governors of the College to wh i ch the post is assigned ； (e) t wo members of the Senate ， appointed by the Senate, w h o are not members of the Academic Board of the College to wh i ch the post is assigned ； ( f ) one memb er nominated by the Academic Board of the College to w h i ch the post is assigned ； (g) t wo external experts appointe d by the Co u n c i l who shall not be members of the academic staff of the Un i v e r s i ty or of any of the Colleges. 2. (1) N o person shall be recommended by a Boar d of Advisers for appointment as Professor or Reader or Senior Lecturer unless— (a) the members of the Board of Advisers in categories (b), (d) and ( f ) set out in paragraph 1 concur ； and (b) the external experts certify i n w r i t i ng that the person to b e recommended is of the required academic standing. (2) I n the case of disagreement betwee n the experts or between the members of the Board of Advisers i n categories ( b ) , (d) and ( f ) set out in paragraph 1 and the experts, the matter shall be referred to the Senate w h o may determine the dispute. 3. A Board of Advisers shall be constituted as follow s for the conferment of each title of Recognized L e c t u r e r— (a) the Vice-Chancellor w h o shall be Ch a i rma n, or a deputy appointed by h i m ; (b) the President of the College at w h i ch the a p p o i n t me nt is tenable, or a deputy appointed by h i m ； (c) t wo members of the Senate, n om i n a t ed b y the Senate, w h o are not members o f the College in w h i ch the a p p o i n t me nt is tenable; (d) one memb e r appointed b y the Academic Board of the Colleg e at w h i c h the appointment is tenable. 16
