First Vice-Chancellor and first P r o - V i c e- Chancellor. 28. The Governor shall appoint the first Vice-Chancellor and the first Pro-Vice-Chancellor. I n t e r i m Statutes. Schedule. 29. The Statutes in the Schedule shall be of effect from the commencement of this Ordinance for a period of twenty-four months or until they are replaced by Statutes made under section 20, whichever period is the shorter , as though they had been made under section 20. S C H E D U L E STATUTE 1 Interpretation I n these Statutes, unless the context otherwise requires— “ O r d i n a n c e" means the Chines e Un i v e r s i ty of H o n g K o n g Ordinance, 1963. STATUTE 2 Congregations 1. T h e time, place and procedure of the Congregations of the whole Un i v e r s i ty shall be determined by the Chancellor. 2. T h e Chancellor, or i n his absence, the Vice-Chancellor, shall preside at Congregations. 3. A t least one Congregation shall be held i n each academic year. STATUTE 3 Members of the University T h e memb e rs of the Un i v e r s i ty shall be-- (a) the Chancellor; ( b) the Vice-Chancellor ; (c) the P r o - V i c e - Ch a n c e l l or ; (d) the T r e a s u r e r; (e) the Presidents and the Vice-Presidents of the Colleges; ( f ) the members of the Co u n c i l; (g) the member s of the Senate; (h) the A p p o i n t ed Teachers and Recognized L e c t u r e rs of the Un i v e r s i ty d u r i ng the tenure of their appointments ; ( i ) the L i b r a r i an and Registrar of the Un i v e r s i ty d u r i ng their tenure of office; ( j ) such other members of the staff of the Un i v e r s i ty and o f the several Colleges d u r i ng the tenure of their appointments as the Co u n c il may f r om t i me to t i me d e t e rm i n e; (k) Eme r i t us and H o n o r a ry Professors ; ( I ) the graduates and such other persons as are entitled i n accordance w i t h the provisions of paragraph 3 of Statute 12 to have their names placed u p o n the Convocation r o l l; ( m ) the students. STATUTE 4 The Chancellor 1. T h e Chancellor, w h e n present, shall preside at Congregations of the Un i v e r s i t y. 2. T h e Chancellor shall be e n t i t l e d— ( a ) to call for i n f o r ma t i on i n regar d to any matter relating t o the welfare of the Un i v e r s i ty f r om the Vice-Chancellor and the Ch a i r man of the Co u n c il whose d u ty it shall be to provide such i n f o r ma t i o n; and ( b ) on the receipt of such i n f o r ma t i on to r e c omme nd to the Co u n c il such action as he deems proper. 9
