T h e Orientation Programme ended in a visit t o the L i b r a ry where the students were instructed by the L i b r a r i an on the use of its facilities. Beginners' German Course Un d er the joint auspices of the Goethe-Institute and the Ge r man Academic Exchange Service, Un i t ed College is n ow offering a Beginners' Ge r man Course in th e 1964/65 academic year. T h i s course is conducted by an Ho n o r a ry Lecturer, D r . W . Sommer, of the Ge r man Academic Exchange Service , and the instruction consists of two sessions of t wo hour s each per week. T h e course is offered as an elective for the first-year students of the Faculties of Arts and Commerce, and the third-year students of the Faculty of Science. T h e re are t h i r t y - f o ur students attending this course. J u d g i ng by the popularity o f this course and the importance of the Ge r man Language in the A r ts and Sciences, it is intended that an intermediate course in Ge r man Language w i ll be arranged w i th the assistance of the above Ge r man institutions for the next academic year.
