Lee Ch i, Director of the Institute of History and Linguistics at the Academia Sinica, T a i wa n, visited N ew Asia College on M a r c h 24 and was invited by the Institute of Advanced Chinese Studies and Research to give a talk on “ T h e Bronze Wo r ks of An c i e nt Ch i n a ". • T h e Fine A r ts De p a r t me nt of N ew Asia College held an exhibition of calligraphy and paintings of local students on M a r c h 17, 18 ,and 19. Prizes to the winners were presented on M a r ch 1 7 at 3 p.m. by D r . T . C . Ou, A c t i ng President of the College. • M r . Su M i n g - h s u a n, Secretary of N ew Asia College, resigned on A p r i l 1. He is now replaced by M r . John T . S. Chen. • T h e Religious Su b - Comm i t t ee of the Staff C l ub of C h u ng Chi College held a retreat on A p r i l 2 7 at the Deep Water Bay villa of Mr. Pang Kwo k - c h a n, a governor of the College. F i f ty members attended the occasion. T h e programme began at 10:30 a.m. w i t h a prayer led by the Reverend W . H . Tonge, Chaplain of the College. T h en D r . C . T . Yu n g, President of the College, M r . R . N. Rayne, Vice-President, and D r . Chang Hs o n - mo u, Dean of the Faculty of Science, each headed a group to discuss in Cantonese, English, and Ma n d a r in respectively the report of Professor A . G . L e hma nn and D r . J.V. L o a c h on Te a c h i ng Methods. T h ey then summarized the discussion and presented a report at the general meeting. T h e afternoon was spent in discussin g the staff's responsibility for students left and development outside the c u r r i c u l um. • D r . Leslie G. K i l b o r n, former Vice-President of C h u n g Chi College, who retired in No v emb e r, 1963, was granted a degree of Do c t or of Sacred Letters (honoris causa) at the Convocation of Victoria University, T o r o n t o, Canada on 5th Ma y, 1965, • A tea reception for D r . & M r s. J. Henderson, Academic Registrar of the University of L o n d o n, was held at U n i t ed College on A p r i l 7, 1965. T h e function was organized for graduates and diplomates of the Un i v e r s i ty of L o n d on to meet D r . and M r s. J. Henderson. • D r . A r t h ur Daniels, Dean of the School of Physical Education, Indiana University, visited U n i t ed College on Friday, M a y 21 , 1965. He was taken on a tour of the College premises by M r . T . C . Cheng, the College President, and M r . N . H . Yo u n g, the A c t i ng Vice- President. Late r he had discussions w i t h several staff members ove r coffee. Dean Daniels is in H o n g K o n g on an American Specialist G r a nt given by the U . S. State De p a r t me nt to study the facilities for physical education and recreation in H o n g Ko n g. A On M a y 19, 1965, M r . Philip Y . C. Hsia, Regional Vice-President for the American International Assurance Co., L t d .’ lecture d to a group of U n i t ed students on "Career Opportunities in the Insurance I n d u s t r y " . M r . Hsia delivered a highly amusing as well as informative talk to those who attended. A A photographic exhibition was held at Un i t ed College f r om A p r i l 5 to A p r i l 7 , 1965 and i t proved to be a great success. M a n y students contributed entries. Co n t r i b u t i o ns were also solicited f r om students of C h u ng Chi College and N ew Asia College and als o photographers f r om outside. Go od coverage of this event was give n by the local newspapers, Radio H o ng K o n g and the Commercial Radio. A prize-giving ceremony ended a very interesting exhibition on A p r i l 7. The University Bulletin of the Chinese University of H o ng K o n g is published and distributed free by the University Editorial Board ; it is meant primarily for the University faculty and staff, but copies are also sent to friends of the University.
