(2) I n the case of disagreement between the experts or between the members of the Board of Advisers in categories (b), (d) and ( f ) set out in paragraph 1 and the experts, the matter shall be referred to the A d - ministrative and Academic-Planning Committee who may determine the dispute. 3. Lecturers appointed b y the College shall become Recognized Lecturers when their appointment is made i n accordance w i th the procedure set f o r th i n Statute 11 2 (d). 4. A Board of Advisers shall be constituted as follow s for the appointment of th e Registrar— (a) the Vice-Chancellor, who shall be Chairman, or a deputy appointed by h i m ; (b) the Chairman of the Council, or in his absence a person appointed by the Council; ( c) the President of each of the Colleges; (d) three members of the Senate, appointed by the Senate, one f r om each College. 5. A Board of Advisers shall be constituted as follows for the appointment of the L i b r a r i a n— (a) the Vice-Chancellor, who shall be Chairman, or a deputy appointed b y h i m ; (b) three members of the Council, appointed by the Council, one f r om each College; (c) three members of the Senate, appointed by the Senate, one f r om each College; (d) two external experts appointed by the Council who shall not be members of the academic staff of th e University or of any of the Colleges. 6. No person shall be recommended for appointment as L i b r a r i an by a Board of Advisers unless the external experts certify in w r i t i ng that the person to be recommended i s of the required academic and professional standing. STATUTE 18 Honorary and Emeritus Professors 1. T h e Council may appoint Honorary Professors and may award the title of Emeritus Professo r on any Professor who has retired f r om office provided that such appointment or award is recommended by the Senate w i t h the consent of the College in wh i ch the professorship w i l l be or has been tenable as the case may be. 2. A n Honorary or Emeritus Professor shall not ex officio be a member of the Senate or of any Facult y or of any Board of Studies. STATUTE 19 Retirement of Certain Officers and Academic Staff T h e Vice-Chancellor, all Professors, Readers and Senior Lecturers, the Registrar, the Librarian and persons holding such other appointments made by the Council as the Council may determine— (a) shall vacate their offices or appointments by the 30th day of Septembe r following the date on wh i ch they attain the age of sixty years unless the Council by a vote of at least two-thirds of the number of members present shall request any such person to continue in his office or appointment for such period there- after as it shall f r om time to time determine, or (b) may retire, or upon the direction of the Council shall retire, at any time between the ages of fifty-five and sixty. STATUTE 2 0 Resignations A n y person wishing to resign f r o m any office or membership of any body shall do so by notice in w r i t i ng addressed to the Registrar. STATUTE 2 1 Removal from O f f i c e, Membership or Appointment 1. T he Council may for good cause as define d in paragraph 2 remove the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Treasurer f r om their offices and any member of the Council other than those referred to in paragraphs (a) and (h) of section 11 of the Ordinance f r om his membership of the Council. 16
