D. in Philosophy of Religion and Ethics f r om Columbia Un i v e r s i t y, after serving for three years as Assistant to Professor He r b e rt Schneider of the Philosophy De p a r t me n t. She taught at Shimer College, M t . Carroll, I11 ., 1951-55 and then went to E l m i ra College, where she was professor and head of the De p a r t me nt of Philosophy and Religion f r om 1955-1965. I n addition, she was F u l b r i g ht Research Professor in I n d ia 1959-60, s t ud y i ng I n d i an Philosophy and Religion. I n 1963-64, she was Scholar attached to the Redcliffe Institute of Independent Study. She came to T h e Chinese University of H o ng K o n g, C h u ng Chi College, in the fall of 1965 as a member of the De p a r t me nt of Philosophy and Religious Knowledge. She lives on the college campus. She is a memb er of the K o w l o on U n i on Ch u r c h, the H o ng K o n g Association of Un i v e r s i ty Wome n, the American Wome n 's C l u b, Ame r i c an Un i v e r s i ty C l u b, the Y M C A and Y W C A . She has contributed to the Sanscrit College Bulletin of Calcutta, I n d i a, and the Journal of Religion of the Un i v e r s i ty of Chicago. She is a member of the American Philosophical Association, T h e American Academy of Religion, T h e Metaphysical Society of America, and the International Philosophical Association. Mr. James C. Yuan,Assistant Registrar (Personnel ami Secretariat) M r . James C. Yu an was born in Canton, China in 1911. He received his B.A. degree in Philosophy f r om National Sun Yatsen Un i v e r s i ty in 1932. Later he attended Stanford Un i v e r s i ty in the Un i t ed States and was awarded the M . A . degree in Journalism in 1937. D u r i n g W o r l d War I I M r . Yu an served as Professor and D i r e c t or of Journalism De p a r t me nt in K u o M i n Un i v e r s i t y, K u k o n g. He also served as V i c e - D i r e c t or of the U n i t ed Nations News Office in Chungking, representing the Chinese Go v e r nme n t. His duties included editorial and personnel affairs. A f t er the War M r . Yu an became Director of Asia Picture Service, an educational visual aid organization, in Shanghai. He returned to H o ng K o n g to serve as Lecturer in Journalism in the Ev e n i ng School of H i g h er Chinese Studies for five years before leaving for the U n i t ed States again in 1956. He undertook some research wo rk in the field of education and was unde r contract w i t h the American Go v e r nme nt for several cultural programmes. I n his journalistic career M r . Yu an worked for several newspapers in San Francisco, K u k o n g, Ch u n g k i ng and H o n g Ko n g. He has w r i t t en numerous articles for publication and is the author of the book History of Chinese Journalism, wh i ch was published in 1956.
