• Dr. L in Tzong-biau, Lecturer in Accounting and Finance, New Asia College, who had completed his advanced studies in Germany and returned to Hong Kong at the end of May, left for Taiwan on 12th June to study the economic development on the island. • Dr. C.T. Chen, Head of the Business Management Department, New Asia College, left for the United States on 17th June to carry out research at the University of California, Berkeley, during the summer. • Rev. Franklin J. Woo, Chaplain of Chung Chi College, has left for the United States to spend two years in graduate studies in a combined programme in education and religion at Columbia University and the Union Theological Seminary in New Yo r k. Rev. Peter K . H. Lee, who has been representing the Methodist Church in Hong Kong on the Board of Governors of the College, has been appointed College Chaplain. • Mr . Wellington K . K. Chan, Visiting Lecturer in History, Chung Chi College, is visiting Taiwan, Japan and Singapore in connection with his Ph.D. dissertation research. • Two open seminars sponsored by the Department of Philosophy and Religion, Chung Chi College, were held in May: on 16th May M r . C.G. New, Chairman of the Department of Philosophy, University of Hong Kong, spoke on "Philosophy and Language: God and Immortality"; on 30th May Dr. R. Panikkai of the Center for the Studies of. World Religions, Harvard University and Benares Hindu University, spoke on "Individuality and the Dialogue between Religions". • The Fine Arts Department of New Asia College held an A r t Appreciation Evening on 12th June and showed selected slides of the art treasures in the National Palace Museum. • Rev. Fr. John Finbar Jones, Temporary Lecturer in Social Wo r k, United College, and Miss Monica Tam, Probationary Administrative Assistant, United College, assumed duty on 1st May. • Dr. Thomas C.W. Mak, Lecturer in Chemistry, New Asia College, assumed duty on 12th June; Mr. Tso-Huai Chow, Assistant Librarian, New Asia College, assumed duty on 28th June. • Mr . Brian Blomfield, Lecturer in English, Chung Chi College, has been appointed Actin g Chairman of the English Department of the College during Dr. A . R . B. Etherton's absence. Mr. K . K. Yue, Assistant Bursar of Chung Chi, has been appointed Acting Bursar of the College during Mr. Donald P. ACCOM's absence. • Upon the recommendation of the Overseas Student Committee, the Academic Board of Chung Chi College has nominated M r . Cheung Wai Yee, a first-year student of the Chinese Department of the College, as the exchange student to Redlands University for the year 1969-1970. OBITUARY Mr . N.Q. Tse, Lecturer in Sociology of New Asia College, who had gone to the United States on long leave in July 1968 to serve as Visiting Professor at the Detroit Technical College, died of cancer in America in mid-May.
