• At the invitation of Hong Kong Baptist College, Dr. Mun Kin-chok, Lecturer in Business Administration at New Asia College, gave a lecture on 1st June, on “The Bargaining Policy in International Market”. On 12th June, Dr. Mun gave another talk on “The Opening o f International Market” for the Taiwan Industrial and Commerce Inspection Group in a seminar sponsored by the Hong Kong Productivity Centre. • The Institute of Advanced Chinese Studies and Research and the Philosophy Department of New Asia College invited Prof. S. Morris Eames and Prof. Elizabeth R. Eames of Southern Illinois University, to give lectures on 21st June at the College. Prof. S.M. Eames talked on "Experience and Philosophical Method in John Dewey", and Prof. E.R. Eames on “Bertrand Russell's Philosophical Method”. • On 24th and 25th June, the United College Student Union organized a seminar workshop on "Education in Hong Kong" at the Adam Schall Residence. Mr. T.C. Cheng, President of the College, officially opened the workshop at 10:30 a.m. on the 24th. The programme consisted of talks given by distinguished leaders in the local educational field, including the Principal of Northcote College of Education, Mr. A. Hinton. ‘ M r s . Fong Lee Mo-kwan, Head of the Geography Department at United College, was guest speaker at a summer course on “The Teaching of Fieldwork in Geography", sponsored by the Education Department. Mrs. Fong spoke on “The Aims and Purposes of Fieldwork in Geography ”. • Mr. Andrew W.F, Wong, Acting Head of the Department of Government and Public Administration, gave a talk on 20th July on “The Concept of Youth Leadership" at a Seminar entitled “The Student and Society" , sponsored by Caritas and the City District Office of Kwun Tong. • The Institute of Advanced Chinese Studies and Research of New Asia College has published a book, A Study of the Social and Political Structures in Pre- Chin Periods and the Two Han Dynasties, written by Mr. Hsu Foo-kuan, a Supervisor of the Institute. The Lung Men Press Ltd. has been appointed as the sole agent for the sale of the book. • The Alumni Association of United College held a two-day summer camp at the Adam Schall Residence on 22nd and 23rd July for nearly 200 alumni and friends. The camp was preceded by an installation ceremony for newly-elected officers of the Association, at which Mr. T.R. Liu, Academic Registrar of United College,officiated. Mr. H.C. Cheung is now President of the Alumni Association and Mr. Sheung Chung-ho, Lecturer in Chinese Language and Literature at the College, is Chairman. The programme of the summer camp included a magnificent musical performance by the New Asia College Chinese Music Club, in conjunction with the United College Student Union Choir. • On 23rd June, the Staff Association of United College organized a farewell dinner for colleagues who will be retiring or leaving the College. Among retiring colleagues are Mr. H.S. Leo, the College Librarian an d Dr. P.N. Chu, Head of the Department of Economics. Both Mr. Leo and Dr. Chu have had a long association with the College, and have been known for their valuable contributions to the development of the College during the past years. • The Institute of Advanced Chinese Studies and Research of New Asia College held a monthly meeting for its assistant research trainees on 1st June. At the meeting Miss Wong Li-yin submitted a paper on “Chuang- tzu's Concept of Knowledge ”, and Mr. Leung Chun-kin reported on "Meng Cheng Shun and His Work Liu Chih Chi”. • The Fine Arts Department of New Asia Colleg e held an Art Exhibition at the City Hall from 16th to 18th June. • The Social Service Group of the Student Union of New Asia College and the Social Welfare Department jointly sponsored a Youth Leadership Camp at the Youth Centre of the Fanling Rotary Club from 26th t o 29th June. • On 29th July, the Social Service Group of the Student Union of New Asia College opened its Summer — 1 0 —
