work in Psychology at the University of California at Los Angeles and then returned to his alma mater in 1952 for further study in sociology, receiving an M.A. in 1955. He continued his studies at the University of California at Berkeley and obtained the degree of Ph.D. in Sociology, From 1959, Professor Rudoff served for three years on the faculty of the University of California at Berkeley as Lecturer of the Graduate School of Social Welfare and Research Associate of the Institute of Personality Development. In 1962 , he joined the California State University at San Jose as Assistant Professor, and later became a full Professor. He was concurrently Director of its Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies from 1966 to 1970. Professor Rudof f is a member of the following professional societies: American Sociological Association, Pacific Sociological Association, Society for the Study of Social Problems and American Association for the Advancement o f Science. He was also elected a member of the Honor Society of Alpha Kappa Delta and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Professor Rudoff is the co-author of Jail Inmates at Work and has contributed countless articles on Sociology to many professional journals. Professor Ryo Taira, Visiting Professor of Japanese Studies, Chung Chi College 授 教 夫 達 魯 Professor Alvin Rudoff 授教良平 Professor Ryo Taira Professor Taira was born in Tokyo but spent his childhood in North China. Upon graduation from Keio University in 1949 with the degree of LL . B” he served on the faculty of his alma mater and became Assistant Professor in 1952 and Professor in 1961. Between 1956 and 1959 , he studied at the University of Michigan and Stanford University in the United States. He went to Europe in 1965, where he spent most of his time at Cambridge University doing research. He has also spent about half a year at Australian National University, Canberra. Professor Taira was awarded the degree of Ph.D. in Law by Keio University in 1967 and the Keio University Academic Honour in 1971. A t Keio University, in addition to teaching Comparative Law, Conflict of Laws, Constitutional Law etc., Dr. Taira is the Assistant Dean of Students, Academic Adviser to Students and Editor of Keio Law Journal He is currently Associate Director of the International Centre of Keio University operating the Japanese Language School for foreign students, Co-director of the Japan Comparative Law Association and Councillor of the Japan-America Legal Studies Association. His main publications, in Japanese, ar e Federal State Relationships in America and Materials for the Studies of American Law. He is the co-author and translator o f Principles and Method of Legal Logic. Mr. Poon Wah-tung, Librarian, New Asia College Mr. Poon Wah-tung graduated from New Asia College of this University with a B.A. degree in 1965 , majoring in English Language & Literature. Soon after his graduation, Mr. Poon joined the Hong Kong Urban Council Public Libraries (formerly City Hall Library) as an Assistant Librarian, responsible for cataloguing work. From September 1967 to December 1968 , Mr. Poon attended on a Government Training Scholarship a Post-graduate Course in Librarianship in the College of Librarianship, Wales. On the completion of his studies, Mr. Poon was elected an Associate of Library Association (A.L.A.). In the summer of 1968, Mr. Poon visited some leading libraries in the United States under an exchange programme. From January 1969 to August 1972, Mr. Poon was the Librarian of both the Waterloo Road and Yaumati Branches of the Urban Council Public Libraries. Mr. Michael Luk Chung-Ming, Assistant Librarian, United College Mr. Michael Luk Chung-Ming, a graduate of Hong Kong New Method College, attended the Hong Kong Baptist College from 1963 to 1965, majoring in sociology. In 1965, he went to the United States and continued his studies i n sociology at California Baptist College, from which he obtained a B.A. degree two years later. After receiving an M.L.S. degree from the University of Hawaii, Mr. Luk returned to Hong Kong and was appointed by the Hong Kong Baptist College as Reference and Serials Librarian.
