talk on "The Environmental Crisis as Viewed by International Youth Environmental Groups" at a “Pollution in Urban Hongkong" seminar organized by the Youth Environmental Action Group on 24th February. • Prof. Rose Trump of Washington University,U.S.A., was invited by the Board of Studies in Business Administration to give a public lecture on "Top Management's New Role in International Marketing" at Chung Chi College on 23rd February. • The Economics Department of New Asia College invited Prof. Mo-huan Hsing of the Economics Department of Chung Chi College t o deliver a lecture on "The Problems Involved in Measuring Residual Productivity 一 as Illustrated by the Manufacturing Industries in Taiwan" on 23rd February. • The Student Union of New Asia College organized a seminar on Chinese Literature, History and Philosophy from 24th to 25th February. Mr. Wang Teh-chao , Senior Lecturer in History of United College, spoke on "The Development of Chinese Culture during the Last Hundred Years and Its Future Prospects". • A lecture on "Lyrics Studies and Research", sponsored by the New Asia Research Institute Colloquium, was given by Mr. Wong Ching-chang, Senior Lecturer in Chinese Literature, on 25th February. • The following books have recently been published by the New Asia Institute of Advanced Chinese Studies and Research: 1 .An Enlarged Edition of Yin Yai Tun Huang Yun Ji with Revisions and Commentaries, by Mr. Pan Chung-kwei, Senior Lecturer in Chinese Literature. 2- Fang I-chih: His Last Years and His Death, by Prof. Yu Ying-shih. • An art exhibition o f the Fine Arts Department of New Asia College was held at the College from 19th to 22nd February. • Music news from Chung Chi College: 1. The new Thursday evening concert series jointly sponsored by the Student Union and the Music Department began on 18th January. Each fortnightly concert features faculty and students of the Music Department playing both Chinese and Western classical music. The first concert, held at the Elisabeth Luce Moore Library Conference Lecture Hall, was given by Mr. Cheung Sai-Bun, gu-ch'in, Mr. Richard Markson, cello, and Dr. Dale A. Craig, piano. Beginning 8th February, films on music will be shown every two weeks, presented by Mr. Tom Pniewski, tutor of the Music Department. 2- Two recitals were given by th e Music Department faculty at City Hall: Mr. Richard Markson and Mr. David Gwilt appeared on 13th January in a recital o f cello- piano pieces and Mr. Tom Pniewski on 14th January in a harpsicord recital. 3. Two American concert artists visited the College in the month of January: Miss Elizabeth Cole, soprano, met with music students and sang- in the College Assembl on 19th January; Mr. Thomas Richner, a pianist who specializes in the works of Mozart, gave a recital in the College Chapel on 21st January, 4. During the Hong Kong Arts Festival hel d from 26th February to 24th March, the music faculty of Chung Chi College was invited to present pre-concert "live programme notes" before most of the concerts, at the Government Information Services Auditoriums. • Chung Chi College held its Student Awards Day on 26th January. Dr. C.T. Yung, President, and Mr. Yuen Kin-chung, Chairman of the Student Awards Day Committee, spoke at the presentation ceremony. • Students of United College who had attained outstanding academic results were awarded prizes at a brief ceremony officiated by Dr . the Hon. P.C. Woo, Chairman of the College Board of Trustees, on 22nd February at the Hall o f the College's Adam Schall Residence. The “Dr. P.N. Chu Prize" was awarded for the first time this year to two Economics students . The award was initiated by the Economics students and alumni of the college to commemorate the services of Dr. P.N. Chu, former Senior Lecturer an d Head of the Department of Economics, who was associated with United College since 1960 and retired in September 1972. • Chung Chi College organized a Workshop on 7th February for the administration staff of the College, including clerical, secretarial, administrative and library staff, to discuss the policy and methods of the administration and the welfare of the individual employee. - 6 —
