Cooperation with French Government With the approval of the French Government, the Chinese University's cooperation with its French counterparts is to be carried a stage further. Over the last 15 years this cooperation has been chiefly con fined to assistance by the French Government to the French studies programme with its emphasis on language instruction and the diffusion of French arts and culture. The keynote of this new phase of academic interflow is balanced cooperation, intro ducing bilateral exchanges in other academic dis ciplines. The French Government, represented locally by its Consulate-General, has played a very central role in the entire project, which was as much a brainchild of the French Government as of the University. A delegation of the University was invited by the French Government to visit universities and institutions in France from 13th to 28th May, 1978.
