T 'an Ssu-t'ung: An Annotated Bibliography By Chan Sin-wai This bibliography o f T'an Ssu-t'ung (1865- 1898), a prominent thinker and reformer o f the late Ch'ing, contains 205 items of articles, books and theses by or on the reformer written either in Chinese or English during the period between 1877 and 1978. It represents the most comprehensive survey o f literature on T'an. A ll items are fully annotated. Articles that have appeared in several publications are identified. Wade-Giles romanization is adopted. The World o f the Chinese— A Struggle fo r Human Unity By Cheng Te-k'un China constitutes a world by itself, comprising one-fourth of the human race. The cultural activities of the Chinese people have always been conditioned by struggles for unity and peace. Cheng Te-k'un approaches his subject from the anthropological point of view.
