Dr. Kelvin K.C. CHAN Mr. HUANG -FU Ho-wang Dr. Hsuan-Chih CHEN NEW DEANS OF STUDENTS Dr. Kelvin K.C. CHAN Dean o f Students, Chung Chi College Dr. Kelvin K.C. Chan is a Senior Lecturer of Pharma cology in the Faculty of Medicine. He received his secondary education in Hong Kong and is well acquainted with the mentality of Hong Kong youths. Personally he is very concerned about the different issues facing the youths of today. Since his appoint ment to the Medical Faculty, in addition to teaching and research, he has had frequent contact with the University students and often assists and participates in the various student programmes. He thus has a full grasp of the present attitudes of University students. Dr. Chan was very involved in the ‘Tolo Nocturne', staff-student discussion evenings organized in Chung Chi since 1982, and he himself also chaired a session on the use of medical drugs. Dr. Chan is very person able, and easily approachable by all. His talks and lectures are well attended; his sense of humour is well reflected in his conversation and he is very popular among students. Members of Chung Chi are proud of his appointment as Dean of Students in 1983. M r. HUANG -FU Ho-wang Dean o f Students, New Asia College Mr. Huang-Fu Ho-wang studied Journalism at National Chengchi University in Taiwan, where he obtained the degrees of BA in 1966 and MA in 1970. He furthered his studies at West Virginia University in the United States, and was awarded the degree of MSJ in 1974. Before coming to Hong Kong, Mr. Huang-Fu had been a reporter of Central Daily News, and editor and editor-in-chief of Scooper Monthly . Mr. Huang-Fu joined the University as Assistant Lecturer in Journalism and Communication in 1977 and was later promoted Lecturer, teaching courses in Chinese Journalistic Writing and Editing, Magazine Writing and Editing, History of Mass Communication, etc. The New Shatin, the Department's community newspaper designed for press practicum for students, resumed its publication soon after the arrival of Mr. Huang-Fu, who served as its Chief Editor for six years. Research projects conducted by Mr. Huang-Fu include the diffusion of innovation in Chinese society, coverage of controversial international news , oral history on Hong Kong press, and development of Chinese news writing. He has published many papers and articles over the years. Mr. Huang-Fu has rich experience in guiding students in their life and study, having been aResident Tutor of Chih Hsing Hall, a student hostel for several years. The College is fortunate to have Mr. Huang-Fu as its Dean of Students. NEW ACADEMIC & ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF Dr. Hsuan-Chih CHEN Lecturer, Department o f Psychology Dr. Hsuan-Chih Chen obtained his PhD degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of Kansas in 1982. He then worked for the University of Colorado as Research Associate in the Psychology Department. Dr. Chen joined the Psychology Depart­ ment of this University in 1983. Dr. Chen's current teaching and research interests include: display format, cognitive processes in reading, human information processing, and applied cognitive psychology. D r. Irene Hau-Siu CHOW Lec t urer , Depar tment o f General Business Management and Personnel Management Dr. Irene H. Chow graduated from The Chinese University in 1976 , and served as demonstrator in the Department of General Business Management and Personnel Management of her alma mater for two and half years. In 1979, she pursued postgraduate studies at Georgia State University and received a Master of PROFILES 15
