* Dr. Stephen L.W, Tang, Lecturer in Sociology, appointed as a member of the Transport Advisory Committee from 1st April, 1986 to 31st March, 1988. * Professor Joseph C.K. Lee, Professor of Morbid Anatomy, appointed as Chairman of the Optometrists Board from 1st May to 30th September, 1986. * Mr. Andrew W.F. Wong, Lecturer in Govern ment and Public Administration, appointed as amem ber of the Vocational Training Council for a term of two years with effect from 1st April, 1986. (2) The following members have been nominated by the University to serve on outside committees/ advisory groups: * Dr. Yuan Heh-hsiang, Senior Lecturer in English, and Dr. Wong Kwan-yiu, Senior Lecturer in Geo graphy, as representatives of the University to serve on the Hong Kong Selection Committee for the 1986 Commonwealth Scholarships tenable at the two universities in Hong Kong. * Dr. Danny S.N. Wong, Lecturer in theMBADivi sion, as a representative of the University to partici pate in the Seminar Advisory Group for the ASAIHL Seminar on Information Technology Developments and their Implications for ASAIHL Institutions to be held in Hong Kong from 10th to 12th September, 1986. Science Faculty Delegation Visits Academia Sinica At the invitation of the Academia Sinica, an official delegation of the University comprising all Professors, Chairmen of Departments and several senior staff members of the Faculty of Science visited the Academia Sinica in Beijing and Shanghai from 28th March to 5th April. Headed by Professor Hsu Baysung, Pro-Vice- Chancellor and Professor of Physics, the delegation included the following members: Professor S.T. Chang, Professor of Biology Professor Lee Cheuk-yu, Professor of Biochem istry Professor Thomas Chung Wai Mak, Dean of Faculty of Science and Professor of Chem istry Professor S.W. Tam, Professor of Chemistry Professor Tien-chi Chen, Professor of Computer Science and Electronics Professor Loh Shiu-chang, Professor of Com puter Science Professor Y.W. Lam, Professor of Electronics Dr. Harry H.L. Kwok, Senior Lecturer in Elec tronics Dr. Chan Wai-leung, Senior Lecturer in Mathe matics Professor Chan Yau-wa, Professor of Physics Dr. Choy Chung-loong, Reader in Physics Dr. Lam Yeh, Lecturer in Statistics This visit served to consolidate the academic links and research collaborations developed between the two institutions over the past several years and to further expand the scope of cooperation. Exchange Agreement with Academia Sinica A nine-member delegation from the Academia Sinica paid a reciprocal visit to the University in late April, following the official visit of the University's delega tion to Beijing and Shanghai a month before. An official agreement on academic exchange between the two institutions was signed at a brief ceremony D r.
