Gifts and Donations As a manifestation o f their confidence in this Univer sity's development, local and overseas individuals and foundations have donated generously to support the University's physical development programme, research projects, publication projects, fellowship and scholarship schemes , and have presented the Univer sity with equipment and books. The University has recently received the following gifts and donations: (1) From Sun Hey Foundation Ltd. a donation of HK$6 ,000,000 for the establishment of: (a) Fung King Hey Memorial Chair Professor ship Endowment Fund; and (b) Fung King Hey Memorial Research Endowment Fund. (2) From Mr. Wilson T.S. Wang a further contribu tion of HK$500,000 to the endowment fund for the Wilson T.S. Wang Visiting Professorship Scheme at the Department of Surgery. (3) From the American Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong a donation of HK$2,000 for two AMCHAM Scholarships of HK$1,000 each for the students of the MBA Programme for 1985- 86. (4) From Chen Hsong Machinery Co. Ltd. anannual donation of HK$7,000 from 1986-87 for a Chen Hsong Industrial Scholarship for a third- year student in Electronics or Physics. (5) From Mr. William Cheung a donation of HK$10,000 for setting up the 'Cheung Kon Fong Outstanding Academic Achievement Scholarships' at New Asia College. (6) From Duty Free Shoppers Ltd. a donation of HK$6,000 for a scholarship for a second-year student of the MBA Programme for 1985-86. (7) From Exxon Chemical Asia Pacific Ltd. and Exxon Chemical China Ltd. a donation of HK$16,000 as the Exxon Chemical Asia Pacific Scholarships for 1985-86. (8) From Exxon Chemical Asia Pacific Ltd. an annual donation of HK$20,000 from 1986-87 for two Exxon Chemical Asia Pacific Ltd. Scholarships for second-year students of the two-year MBA Programme. (9) From friends of Dr. and Mrs. Li Shu Pui a dona tion of HK$132,000 as an endowment fund to establish ascholarship,in commemoration of the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Dr. and Mrs. Li in 1986 , to be awarded annually from 1986- 87 to an academically outstanding second-year student of the Part-time Degree Programmes. (10) From the Italian University for Foreigners at Perugia a donation of HK$7,760 for the estab lishment of several scholarships for students pursuing short-term courses in Italian language and/or culture at that University in 1985-86. (11) From Johnson & Johnson (HK) Ltd. adonation of HK$4,000 towards the CILAG Visiting Scholar Fund of the Department of Orthopaedic and Traumatic Surgery. (12) From Dr. Lee Sheung Sun a donation of HK$3,000 as the Lee Sheung Sun Academic Awards for the students resident in the Post graduate Hall Complex. (13) From Mr. Lee Wing Tat a donation of HK$1,500,000 for establishing the ‘Lee Wing Tat Fellowship Fund' at the Department of Surgery to promote academic exchange. (14) From Li Po Chun Charitable Trust Fund Com mittee the following donations for the Li Po Chun Charitable Trust Fund Postgraduate Scholarships ofHK$20,000 each for outstanding students of the Graduate School from 1985-86 onwards and subject to review after five years: (a) HK$40,000 for 1985-86; and (b) HK$80 , 000 annually from 1986-87. (15) From Nestle China Ltd. the following dona tions: (a) HK$10,000 for setting up a prize for the best student in the course of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Part One of the Third Professional Examination of the Faculty of Medicine; (b) HK $10,000 for establishing an annual Nestle Award of HK$500 from 1986-87 at the Department of Paediatrics for an outstanding final-year medical student; and 24 GIFTS AND DONATIONS
