He was specially skilled at painting birds, flowers, fish and insects, having studied under Meng Jinyi and Song Guangbao. His paintings have some of the ethereal qualities of Yun Shouping (1633-1690). Ju Lian (1828-1904) was the younger cousin of Ju Chao. His paintings of flowers and insects were celebrated throughout Guangdong. He and Ju Chao exerted great influence on the art and practice of painting in the province, giving rise to the term ‘the Ju school of painting'. Famous painters like Gao Jianfu, Chen Shuren and others at one time or another drew inspiration from the Ju's. * New Asia College organize d the following activities: - A n art exhibition was mounted at City Hall from 9th to 15th October to celebrate the college's 40th anniversary.
