Gifts and Donations The University has recently received from local and overseas individuals and foundations the following gifts and donations in support of its programmes and projects: (1) F r om Fong Shu Fook To ng Fo u n d a t i on HK$650,000 towards the construction cost of the extension to the Fong Shu Chuen Building. (2) From a group of 1977 business administration graduates HK$3,000 to provide two scholarships of $1,500 each for New Asia College in 1988-89. (3) From Barclays Bank PLC and the Younger Managers' Club HK$3,000 to provide a scholarship for the Faculty of Business Administration in 1989-90. (4) From Mr. Chiu Cho-kon: (a) a further donation of HK$20,000 towards an established endowment fund, the accrued interests from which will be used to provide a number of bursaries annually for medical students; and (b) a further donation of HK$20,000 towards an established endowment fund, the accrued interests from which will be used to provide a number of scholarships annually for academically outstanding students. (5) F r om Ch o u 's Founda t i on HK$ 2 0 , 0 00 to establish a student campus work scheme in 1989-90. (6) From Coopers & Lybrand HK$7,500 for the award of a scholarship to a final year full-time business administration undergraduate concentrating in accountancy in 1989-90. (7) From The Croucher Foundation HK$250,000 towards the foundation's funds for needy students in 1989-90. (8) From Mr. Edmund Chu HK$2,000 to provide a scholarship for New Asia College in 1988-89. (9) F r om D a i wa Overseas F i nan ce L t d . HK$2,000,000 to establish an endowment fund, the accrued interests from which will be used to provide a number of annual awards to undergraduates selected for Japanese studies/cultural exchange programmes in Japan. (10) From Dow Chemical Pacific Ltd. HK$6,000 for the award of a scholarship to an M B A student in 1989-90. (11) From Duty Free Shoppers International Ltd. HK$7,500 for the award of a scholarship to an MBA student in 1989-90. (12) From Executors of the Estate of the late Ms. Chang M in HK$200,000 to establish an endowment fund, the accrued interests from which will be used to provide an annual scholarship for New Asia College. (13) From Exxon Energy Ltd. an annual donation of HK$24,000 for the award of two scholarships of $12,000 each to students of the Two-year MBA Programme. (14) From the family of the late Dr. Francis S. Hutchins HK$7,800 to provide a scholarship for New Asia College in 1989-90. (15) From Farmitalia Carlo Erba (HK) Ltd. an annual donation of HK$2,000 for the award of a prize in endocrinology to a medical student. (16) From Fung Ying Sin Koon, Ltd. HK$ 100,000 for the award of a number of bursaries to needy students in 1989-90. (17) F r om Dr. Ho T i m an annual donation of HK$4,000 to set up two scholarships of $2,000 each for New Asia College in 1988-89. (18) F r om Hong K o ng I ns t i t u te of Personnel Management HK$3,000 for the award of a scholarship to a fourth-year student concentrating in personnel management in 1989-90. (19) From The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation US$40,000 to fund four scholarships, two in 1990-91 and two in 1991-92, for students from China admitted to the Two-year MBA Programme. (20) From Dr. Jean Horton HK$20,000 to set up an endowment fund, the accrued interests from which will be used to provide a prize for the best anaesthetic trainee at the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. (21) From The Incorporated Trustees of Chiap Hua Cheng's Foundation an annual donation of HK$ 150,000 for the following awards: (a) ten scholarships of $9,000 each to academically outstanding students; (b) ten bursaries of $3,000 each to needy students; and (c) a number of summer subsistence bursaries GIFTS AND DONATIONS 26
