Dr. Ng Ho Keung Senior Lecturer in Anatomical & Cellular Pathology Dr. Ng Ho Keung was born in Hong Kong in 1958 and received his secondary education at Wah Yan College, Kowloon. He subsequently studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, UK and graduated with distinctions in pathology and bacteriology in 1982. After his internship in medicine and neurosurgery, he returned to Hong Kong and joined The Chinese University as lecturer in the newly established Department of Morbid Anatomy. Dr. Ng was promoted to senior lecturer in April 1990. To further develop his interests in neuropathology and surgical pathology, Dr. Ng went on study leave in 1986 to study neuropathology at the National Hospitals for Nervous Diseases, London under Dr. Robin O. Barnard and at Duke University Medical Centre under Dr. F. Stephen Vogel and Dr. Peter C. Burger. Dr. Ng also participated in and spoke at various seminars and international conferences on immunocytochemistry, immunoelectron microscopy and neuropathology. Dr. Ng has qualified as member or fellow of several professional organizations including the Royal College of Pathologists (1988) the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (1988), the College of American Pathologists (1989) and the International Academy of Cytology (1989). He is also a member of the International Brain Research Organization and the Hong Kong Pathology Society. Apart from teaching and serving as a consultant pathologist at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Dr. Ng carries out research in various areas of neuropathology and has published over 30 academic articles in various international journals. Dr. Brian Tomlinson Senior Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacology Dr. Brian Tomlinson was born and educated in Yorkshire and studied medicine in London at the Middlesex Hospital Medical School. After receiving a B.Sc. degree in medical sciences (first class honours) and an MB BS degree in 1973, he started postgraduate training in general medicine. He subsequently qualified as MRCP (UK) and proceeded to registrar posts in general medicine, nephrology and diabetes in the Dundee Teaching Hospitals. He moved to the medical unit of University College Hospital, London in 1980. Inspired by the work of Prof. Brian Prichard of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, he developed a clinical and research interest in hypertension and joined Prof. Prichard's department as lecturer. His research interests in clinical pharmacology are particularly related to the drug treatments for hypertension, the use of the technique of impedance cardiography for the assessment of haemodynamic effects of antihypertensive drugs and the measurement of the catecholamine content of blood platelets as an indication of overall sympathetic nervous system activity. He has presented work at British and international meetings on clinical pharmacology and hypertension. Dr. Tomlinson joined The Chinese University as senior lecturer in clinical pharmacology in March 1990 and has since initiated a clinic for hyperlipidaemia patients in the Prince of Wales Hospital to study the interaction between hypertension and lipids in the promotion of atheromatous diseases. He is an active member of a number of medical science societies including the British Pharmacological Society, the Medical Research Society and the European Society for Clinical Investigation.
