to serve on various boards and committees: * Dr. Lo Wing-chun, senior lecturer in international business, has been appointed a member o f the Wholesale/Retail and Import/Export Trades Training Board o f the Vocational Training Council for two years from 1st Ap ril 1991. * Prof. Chen Char-nie, professor o f psychiatry and head o f Shaw College, has been appointed a member o f the Board of Review —Long Term Prison Sentences for three years from 1st May 1991. * Mrs. Grace Chow, director of student affairs, has been appointed a member of the Joint Committee on Student Finance for three years from 1st May 1991. * Dr. Philip Fu, reader in accountancy, has been reappointed a member o f the Panel o f the Inland Revenue Board o f Review for three years from 9th May 1991. * Prof. P.C. Leung, professor o f orthopaedics and traumatology, has been reappointed a member of the Urban Council from 1st June 1991 to 31st March 1995. * Dr. Fanny M .C . Cheung, senior lecturer in psychology, has been appointed a member o f the Regional Council from 1st June 1991 to 31st March 1995. * Dr. Richard M.W. Ho, lecturer in Chinese lan guage and literature, has been appointed a member o f the Regional Council from 1st June 1991 to 31st March 1995. He has also been appointed an adjudi cator of the Immigration Tribunal from 1st July 1991 to 28th February 1993. * Prof. Ho Kam-fai, professor of social work, has been appointed a member o f a panel tasked with carrying out section 22 of the Immigration Ordinance for two years from 1st June 1991. * Prof. S.W. Tam , pro-vice-chancellor and dean o f the Graduate School, has been reappointed a member of the Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation for one year from 8th June 1991. He has also been appointed to serve on the Council o f the Open Learning Institute of Hong Kong for one year from 20th June 1991. * Dr. Siu Ping-kee, reader in educational psy chology, has been appointed a member o f the Board o f Education for two years from 1st July 1991. * Prof. Kuan Hsin-chi, professor of government and public administration, has been appointed a member of the Law Reform Commission of Hong Kong for three years. * Prof. Rance P.L. Lee, professor of sociology, has been reappointed a member of the Release Under Supervision Board for three years from 1st July 1991. * Prof. Yeung Yue-man, professor of geography, has been appointed a member of the Metro Planning Committee from 18th July 1991 to 31st March 1992. * Prof. Ho Chi-ping, professor o f surgery, has been reappointed a member o f the Optometrists Board for two years from 1st August 1991. * Dr. Leslie N.K. Lo, dean o f education, has been appointed a member o f the Board o f Education from 1st August 1991 to 30th June 1993. * Prof. Allan M.Z. Chang, professor o f obstetrics and gynaecology, has been reappointed a member of the Midwives Board of Hong Kong for three years from 5th September 1991. 1991 Graduates In the 1990-91 academic year, the University turned out 1,373 Bachelors from its full-time pro grammes and 111 from its part-time programmes. O f the graduates o f the full-time programmes, 271 are from the Faculty of Arts, 292 the Faculty of Business Administration, 107 the Faculty of Medicine, 351 the Faculty o f Science, and 352 the Faculty o f Social Science. As of those who have completed part-time degree programmes, 35 are from the Business Adm in istration Programme, 36 from the Chinese and English Programme, 11 from the Music Programme, and 29 from the Social Work Programme. In addition, 386 students completed their post graduate studies leading to the Diploma in Education. O f these, 121 are from the one-year full-time pro gramme, 137 from the two-year part-time evening programme and 128 from the two-year part-time day programme. In te rnationa l Conferences * The Department o f Obstetrics and Gynaecology organized a workshop on recent advances in gynae cological surgery on 2nd May 1991. * The Gender Research Programme of the Hong Kong Institute o f Asia-Pacific Studies presented a forum entitled 'The Hong Kong Family in the Nineties - Contradictions and Outlook' on 25th May 1991. * The Chinese Medicinal Material Research Centre presented an open forum on Chinese medicine on 1st and 8th June 1991. * The Japan and Asia-Pacific Development Pro gramme of the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies hosted a conference on 'International Rela tions in the Asian Pacific Region since 1980’ on 25th and 26th June 1991.
