As it gradually developed, support both locally and from overseas steadily in creased, and the college's academic curriculum was diversified to include subjects in many other disciplines. Some o f the University's academic departments such as fine arts and anthropology are found only in New Asia College. Scholarly visits and other cultural activities are arranged throughout the year under different programmes such as the Ch'ien Mu Lecture in H istory and Culture Programme, the New Asia M ing Yu Foundation Professorship Programme, the New Asia S. Y. Chung Visiting Fellows Programme, the New Asia David Lam Economist Exchange Programme, and the Y. S. Hui Exchange Programme in Fine Arts. Extracurricular activities fo rm an important part o f student life in the college and are freely organized by the college student union and a host o f student clubs and societies. P u b lica tio n s o f New A sia College O rie n ta tio n cam p U n it e d C o lle United College was founded in 1956 w ith the amalgamation o f five post- secondary colleges ： Canton Overseas College, Kwang Hsia College, Wah Kiu College, Wen Hua College, and Ping Jing College o f Accountancy. The five colleges decided to poo l their resources to provide better higher education fo r Hong Kong students.
