Prof i les Dr. Ho Kwok-keung Lecturer in Educational Administration and Policy Dr. Ho graduated from The Chinese University with a B.Sc. degree in 1971, and acquired his Diploma in Education in 1976. He took his M.Sc. in physics from Ohio University in 1974 and his doctorate in education from the University of British Columbia in 1980. He is also a member of the Institute of Physics (UK) and a chartered physicist. Dr. Ho taught at Ming Kei College from 1970 to 1981, and was principal of the Chinese YMCA College from 1981 to 1994. He is actively involved in the work of various local educational and social organizations. Dr. Ho is currently board member of United Christian College, the Research Institute of Christian Education, Tsz Wan Shan Centre Kindergarten, and the World Relief Association of Hong Kong. He also serves on the executive committee of the Educational Research Association, and the editorial board of New Horizon and the Hong Kong Educational Research J o u r n a l . Dr. Ho was visiting scholar at Homerton College of Cambridge University in 1984, visiting professor of Biola University in California in 1989, when he was also appointed adjunct professor of education. He also visited Macquarie University in Australia in 1993. His research interests include school management, educational policy, bilingual education, and education measurement and evaluation. He has published eight books, some 30 articles in local or international journals, and numerous articles in local magazines and newspapers. He has also co-authored several government reports on education developments in Hong Kong. Dr. Freedom Y.K. Leung Lecturer in Psychology Dr. Freedom Leung received his undergraduate training in psychology at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, where he also took his MA in general psychology and Ph.D. in clinical psychology. Before j o i n i ng The Chinese University o f Hong Kong, he was a research associate at the Douglas Hospital Centre, a M c G i l l University teaching hospital in Montreal, where he conducted research on eating and personality disorders for three years. Dr. Leung has authored and co-authored about 30 journal and conference publications. His current research interests include the relationship between body-image and self-image, the development of disordered eating behaviours, and personality disorders among Chinese adolescents in Hong Kong. As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Leung also practises psychotherapy. He specializes in treating anxiety, personality or eating disorders. Dr. Leung has been married for nine years, and his wife is a French-Canadian who speaks Cantonese. In his leisure time, Dr. Leung enjoys playing badminton, rock-n-roll music, and Flamenco (a Spanish dance). Dr. John Shuttleworth Lecturer in Sports Science and Physical Education Dr. Shuttleworth read sports science and physical education at Loughborough University of Technology in the UK and the University of Western Australia. He obtained his doctorate from the University of Alberta in Canada in 1975. Dr. Shuttleworth's professional experience is wide-ranging. He had served as principal lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University, where he helped establish the first B.Sc. programme in sports science in the UK. He later joined Griffith University in Australia as principal lecturer and head of the Leisure Studies Department, where he assisted in the development of Australia's first BA course in sport and recreation management. Before joining The Chinese University, he was senior lecturer and head of the Human Movement Studies Department, and sub-dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Tasmania, Australia, Profiles 25
