PROFILES staff members newly appointed Prof. Au Yuk-fai Assistant Professor Department of International Business Prof. Au graduated from The Chinese University wit h a bachelor's degree i n business administration and an M.Phil, degree in psychology. He furthered his studies in the University of British Co l umb i a wh e re he o b t a i n ed his Ph.D. in i n t e r na t i ona l management/industrial relations management. Prof. All's research interest lies in international management, covering topics such as human resources management and cross- cultural research methodology. He is currently engaged in studies on expatriate networking patterns in Hong Kong an d Type II errors in international managemen t studies. Prof. Ma Shu-yun Assislant Professor D e p a r t m e nt of Government and Public A d m i n i s t r a t i o n Prof. Ma graduated with a BA degree in economics and government from Essex University. He obtained his MA i n economics from McMaster University, and another MA in development studies and a Ph.D. degree i n political science from the University of Toronto. Prior to joining the Department of Government and Public Administration at The Chinese University in December 1995, Prof. Ma was chief economist with the Canada China Business Council and postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto - York University Joint Centre fo r Asia Pacific Studies. Prof. Ma's current research is focused on post-communist transformation in China and Russia, and the political economy of reform in developing countries. Prof. Tan Chee Beng Professor Department of Anthropology Prof. Tan received his Bachelor of Social Science degree from the Science University of Malaysia. He pursued his postgraduate studies at Cornell University where he received a Ph.D. in anthropology in 1979. He then taught for a year at the Department of Sociology of the University of Singapore. Before joining The Chinese University in January 1996, he served for 16 years at the departments of Chinese studies and anthropology at the University of Malaya. Chinese University Bulletin Autumn .
