He is most interested in cultural change and ethnicity, ethnogenesis, ethnic relations, culture and development, an d indigenous religion. His publications cover all these topics and are particularly focused on Chinese communities in Southeast Asia. Prof. Wu Yu-liang Assistant Professor D e p a r t m e nt of C o m p u t er Science and Engineering Prof. Wu graduated from Florida International University w i t h a BS degree in computer science in 1983 and obtained his MS degree in the same subject from the University of Miami in 1984. In 1994 he received his Ph.D. in electrical an d computer engineering from the University o f California at Santa Barbara. In 1985, Prof. Wu worke d at the Internet Systems Corporation as a systems programmer on network communication protocols , and from 1986 t o 1988 at AT&T Bell Labs where he was involved in the development of several telephone operation systems. He then worke d on tester software designs at Amdahl Corporation for a year, and for the same length of time at Cadence Design Systems Incorporation, where he helped develop silicon synthesis products. Prof. Wu joined The Chinese University in January 1996. Prof. Wu currently conducts research o n the optimization of logic, physical design automation of VLSI circuits, FPGA related CAD tool designs, and architectural analysis/optimization. Prof. Cheng Kwo k Keung, Michael Assistant Professor Department of Electronic Engineering Prof. Cheng received his university education at King's College, University of London, and was awarded a B.Sc. degree in electronic engineering in 1987 and a Ph.D. degree in microwave circuit design in 1993. His outstanding academic achievements w o n h i m the Siemens Prize, the lEE Prize, and the Convocation Susquicentennial Prize in Engineering (University of London) i n 1986, 1987 and 1988 respectively. Between 1990 and 1995 he worked as research assistant and postdoctoral research associate a t King's College Prof. Cheng has published over 15 papers in leading international refereed journals. He is also a contributing author of MMIC Design, a book published by the Institution o f Electrical Engineers. His research interests include hyb r id an d MMIC technology, computational electromagnetics , computer modelling of microwave components , nonlinear circuit analysis, and designing microwave filters an d power amplifiers.
