The conference was sponsored by the Curriculum Development Institute of the Ed u c a t i on De p a r t me n t, H o n g K o n g Government. • The Department o f Anthropology and the Fairbank Center o f Harvard University j o i n t ly o r gan i z ed 'The I n t e r n a t i o n al Co n f e r e n c e o f C h a n g i n g D i et a n d Foodways in Chinese Culture' on 13th and 14th June. • T he Un i v e r s i t y 's D e p a r t m e n t of Educational Administration and Policy and the Hong Kon g Institute fo r Educational Research, the Vocational Training Council, and the Education Department of Ho ng Kong jointly organized a conference on 'Vocational and Technical Education for 2000' on 15th June. • The Department of Computer Science and Engineering hosted the seventh meetin g of the Ideographic Rapporteur Group of the International Standard Organization i n association w i t h the H o n g K o n g Technology Federation from 24th to 28th June. • The Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economic s and the Lo Fung Learned Society jointly organized the Pacific Rim Economics Conference o n Trade and Development on 25th and 26th July.
