The foundation will strive to improve the standards of clinical eyecare, launch community outreach programmes, develop new drugs and modes of therapy, and provide a rehabilitation centre for th e visually handicapped. A series of activities have been planned to raise funds for these projects. CU Music Scholars Visit Taiwan and Beijing for Professional Exchange Four teachers of the Music Department and their graduate students participated in an international conference on ‘The Traditions and Future o f Music' in Taipei from 24th to 30th April. The function was attended b y music scholars f r om ma i n l a nd China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Th e delegates from CUHK presented eigh t papers. Twe l ve days later o n 12th May, teachers of the same department were invited to visit for the first time the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, the China Conservatory of Music, and the Music Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Arts. The visit wa s part of an exchange agreement signed in 1995 with the Beijing Conservatory. American Executives Come to Hong Kong for Tips on How to Meet the Asia-Pacific Challenge For the eighth time since 1989 executive MBA students of the University of Pittsburgh, USA, came to The Chinese University to participate in a series of seminars and visits organized b y the Asia-Pacific Institute of Business from 15th to 18th April 1996. The programme aimed at providing participants with useful exposure to the various aspects of business and management practices in Hong Kong and China. Apart from presentations and discussions on various business issues, visits to the Airport Authority and the Chek Lap Kok airport site were arranged. Art Exhibitions Ma s t er o f F i n e A r t s S h ow Two graduates of the Master of Fine Arts Programme displayed their works at Hui's Gallery, New Asia College, in June-July 1996. The exhibition of 'Ink Paintings by Liu Kwai Ying' was staged from 1st to 13th June, and 'Cement, Falling, Games — Mixed Media Paintings by Simon Wong See Man' from 19th June to 2nd July.
