A r t M u s e um E x h i b i t i o n s The Art Museum organized two exhibitions between July and November : • 'The Art of Ju Chao and Ju Lian' , exhibition was held f r om 6th July to 8th September. Two hund r ed and thirty-four exhibits featuring calligraphy and paintings of flowers, birds, insects, landscapes and figures, i n c o l ou r and ink, we re o n display. The Guangdong masters Ju Chao (1811-1865) and Ju Lian (1828-1904), often k n own as the Two Jus, were cousins w h o f o u n d e d t h e Ge s h a n S c h o ol t h a t specialized i n expressing sentiments towards life through extensive portrayals of flowers and insects. Their innovative techniques of infusing water an d powder, 'zhuangshui' and 'zhuangfen', gave rise to a vividness of colour and light wh i c h emits a strong southern aura. • The Exhibition of the Mufei Collection of Ceramics was held f r om 5th October to 10th November as one of the events to celebrate the Art Museum's silver jubilee. The Mufei Collection of Ceramics was built up during the 1960s and early 1970s by Prof. and Mrs. Cheng Te-k'un for the purposes of teaching and research, and has been well studied and written on. It consists o f 268 items, and is p a r t i c u l a r ly r i ch i n Chines e e x p o r t porcelain of the Qing dynasty for the European market, and Vietnamese an d Thai ceramics. Ther e are also wares of Persian, Japanese and other origins. T h e N ew S i l k Road E x h i b i t i o n An exhibition of abou t 50 latest prints of paintings b y Chan Kam Shing was held at the Gallery of the Shaw College Lecture Theatre f r om 12th to 25th October. All the prints exhibited were for sale at a m i n i mum price of HK$1,000 each. The revenue generated, after deducting HK$250 f r om each p r i nt for mo u n t i ng and framing, was dona t ed to the Children's Cancer Foundation. A n n u a l E x h i b i t i o n o f t h e D e p a r t me n t o f F i n e A r t s The annual exhibition of the Department of Fine Arts was held from 22nd to 26th June at the Exhibition Hall, High Block, City Ha l l .
