Built in 1905 as the German Hospital, Beijing Hospital is now a general hospital directly affiliated to the PRCs Ministry of Public Health. The hospital is known for geriatrics medicine, and has contributed much to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of senility. The Faculty of Medicine signed an exchange agreement wit h the Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences to enhance research collaboration and academic exchange on 26th October 1996. Under the agreement the latter will recommend 10 teaching staff and graduate students to visit CUHK each year. The two institutions will also join hands in organizing the ninth Wilson T. S. H u a ng J i e - f u , presiden t of Sun Yat - sen U n i v e r s i t y of M e d i c a l Sciences * The Faculty of Medicine and Taiwan Yang- Ming University signed a collaboration memorandum on 8th November 1996. Currently the only comprehensive medical university in Taiwan, Taiwan Yang- Ming University offers programme s spanning the entire spectrum of medical education. It conducts both pre-clinical and clinical research as well as research on traditional Chinese medicine.
