I n this competition, M B A students f r om different business schools i n Asia w o r k i n teams to conceive and develop their respective business plans, a nd present t h em to judges consisting of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and other entrepreneurial s u p p o rt professionals. The business p l an that w i ns is one considered to have the highest potential for success if implemented. A dm i n i s t r a t i v e ly based at C U M B A , the A s i an M o o t C o rp P r o g r am is affiliated w i t h the M o o t C o rp P r o g r am of the U n i v e r s i ty of Texas at Austin. There are several regional M o o t C o rp Programs i n the w o r l d b u t the one i n Texas, U n i t ed States, is the international event in w h i ch teams f r o m a l l o v er t he w o r l d are i n v i t e d to p a r t i c i p a t e. F or the A s i a n competition, the M B A schools w i l l take turns every t w o years to be host. The Chinese U n i v e r s i ty has u n d e r t a k en to organize the 1998 and 1999 c o m p e t i t i o n s; b y 2000 i t w i l l be the t u r n of the A s i a n I n s t i t u te of Ma n a g eme nt i n the Philippines. Eleven of the best graduate business schools i n Asia w i t h f u l l - t i me M B A p r o g r a mm es t o ok p a rt i n the f i r st A s i a n M o o t C o rp h e ld at the C U M B A T o wn Centre a nd the Un i v e r s i ty campus f r om 7th to 9th A p r i l. Each school w as to select s t u d e n ts w i t h o u t s t a n d i ng e n t r e p r e n e u r i al t h i n k i ng a nd business venture plans. The C U H K team was f o r med after a stringent internal c omp e t i t i on i n March.
