Accreditation from AACSB-IAME The Faculty o f Business Administration has received accreditation f r o m AACSB - T he International Association for Management Education ( I AME ). This was announced on 18th Ap r il 1999 at the association's annual meeting held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. A A C S B - I A M E is i n t e r n a t i o n a l l y renowned as the premier accrediting agency for degree programmes in business administration, accounting, and management, and The Chines e University is the first institution in Asia to have heen invited to go through the accreditation process, which includes a self-evaluation report, and an on-site review by a Peer Review Team. The AACSB - I AME accreditation confirms the high standard o f management education achieved by the CUHK Faculty of Business Adminstration, which w i l l play an even more active role in global management education in the years to come. Asia Academy of Management Established The University recently took the lead i n establishing the Asia Academy of Management, an i n d e p e n d e nt o r g a n i z a t i o n r u n b y management scholars interested in management issues pertinent to Asia. The objective of the academy is to encourage management research, education, and dissemination of relevant knowledge to Asia. Its members come from prestigious business schools in Asia including CUHK, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, National Central University in Taiwan, Chungnam National Universit y in Korea, Kobe University in Japan, National Un i v e r s i ty of Singapore, the Institut e o f Management i n India , the National Science Fo u n d a t i o n o f Ch i na , as w e l l as other universities in Europe and the US. Prof. Lau Chung-ming, chair of the Department o1 Management at the University, is the founding president of the academy. The inaugural conference of the academy took place from 28th to 30th December 1998 at the Royal Plaza Hotel. CUHK Forms Accounting League with Mainland and Taiwan Counterparts The School of Accountancy has formed an academic alliance w i t h the accounting departments of Peking University , National Taiwan University, and Fudan University.
