There were some 80 entries in the preliminary round , submitted mostly by c omp o s e rs f r om ma i n l a n d Ch i n a , Ma l a y s i a , a nd Ta iwan . On l y e i ght compositions were selected to enter the finals. Mr. Ng , wh o h a s wr i t t e n a nd arranged over 20 works since secondary school, was the only representative from Hong Kong in the finals. News in Brief 57
