She was a clinical psychologist at the U n i t e d Ch r i s t i a n H o s p i t a l f r om 1975 t o 1977 and hono r a r y clinical psychologist of t h e D e p a r t m e n t o f P s y c h i a t r y a t Th e Chinese University f r om 1984 to 1992. Prof. Ch e u n g j o i ne d the C U H K De p a r t me nt of Psychology as lecturer i n 1977, b e c om i ng senior lecturer i n 1985, and reader i n 1992. She is n o w chairperson of the department, as w e l l as the f o u n d i ng d i r e c t or o f the Ge n d e r Research Centre . F r o m 1995 t o 1996, she was dean of the Faculty of Social Science.
