Yang Archive Prof. Yang Chen N i n g , N o b e l laureate i n physics a n d D i s t i n g u i s h ed Professor-at - L a r ge of the U n i v e r s i t y , p r e s e n t e d h i s l a t e s t m e d a l — t he 2001 K i n g F a i s a l I n t e r n a t i o n a l P r i ze f o r Science, to th e U n i v e r s i t y. Set u p b y the K i n g Fa i s a l International Foundation o f Saudi Arabia, the p r i z e ranks p r om i n e n t l y amo n g the w o r l d ' s mo s t p r e s t i g i o us awa r d s . Prof. Yang also presented to the Un i v e r s i t y the certificate and medal for the A c a d em i c um Pon t i f i c i um award, w h i ch Pope John Paul I I bestowed on h i m i n 2000. These items are the latest additions to the c o l l e c t i o n of P r o f. Ya n g 's me d a l s, awards, and manuscripts i n the C.N. Yang Archive of the University. The archive was set u p i n 1999 and is a uniqu e a nd valuable resource f or h i s t o r i a ns s t u d y i n g P r o f. Yang's life a n d w o r k , a nd fo r students of physics interested i n k n o w i n g more about his c on t r i bu t i on t o science. Medical News New Centres Postgraduate Education Centre The Postgraduate Education Centre of the Faculty of Medicine was officially opene d at the Prince of Wales Hospital o n 2nd June 2001. The n e w b u i l d i ng houses state-of- the-art conference facilities for the Faculty of Me d i c i ne a nd H o n g Ko n g ' s first ever School of Public Health. The constructio n of the centre wa s ma d e possible b y the generous d o n a t i o n s of the H o n g K o n g Jockey C l u b Ch a r i t i e s Trust , the S h a w Fo u n d a t i o n , the Friends of the Prince of Wales Hospital, and K a i Ch o n g Tong. The openin g of the centre also ma r k ed the 2 0 t h a n n i v e r s a ry of th e F a c u l ty of Me d i c i n e . I t is a b i g step f o r w a r d i n its effort to s t r eng t hen c o n t i n u i ng me d i c a l e d u c a t i on a n d a d v a n c e p u b l i c h e a l t h t h r o u g h education, training, a n d research. On the evening of the same day, the 20th Anniversity Gala Dinner of the Faculty of Medicine was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Prof. Arthur K.C.
