United College Celebrates 45th Anniversary U n i t e d C o l l e ge c e l e b r a t e d i t s4 5 t h a n n i v e r s a ry at a c e r emo ny h e l d o n the m o r n i n g of 19th October 2001 a t Sir Ru n R u n S h aw H a l l . M r . Sh am Ch o i - s a n g, chairman of the College Board of Trustees, and Dr. Edgar Cheng Wai-kin, head of the C e n t r a l P o l i c y U n i t o f t h e H K S A R g o v e r nme n t , officiated at the c e r emony and presented prizes to students. T h e c e r e m o n y w a s i m m e d i a t e l y f o l l owe d b y a gran d b i r t h d a y part y on the college campus, featurin g the c u t t i ng of a 4 0 - p o u n d b i r t h d a y cake. T h e d a y ' s highlights were the anniversary luncheon held at the college staff c ommon room, and the feast-for-a-thousand organized b y the U n i t e d Co l l e ge S t u d e n t U n i o n i n the evening. T h e n o n 2 0 t h Oc t o b e r , the c o l l e g e organized a dinner ball at the Gr and Hy a t t for some 400 trustees, alumni, friends, and memb e r s o f the college. O n th e same occasion an e x h i b i t i o n o f the college's h i s t o r y and developmen t over the last 45 years was staged and long service awards were presented.
