Efforts to Continue As Ch i na continues its rapid development, there is an ever increasing demand for expertise i n all its industries and professions. W i t h its cosmopolitanism and the c ommon cultural roots it shares w i t h the mainland, H o ng Ko ng is an ideal place for ma i n l and students and scholars to gain international exposure and upgrade thei r knowledge and skills. Since 1997, H o ng Kong's relationship w i t h its motherland has become more intimate. Closer interaction between the two w i l l certainly be mu t ua l ly beneficial, and members o f the University w i l l continue to contribute their b it towards the nu r t u r i ng o f talent for bo th H o ng Kong and the mainland. 23
