Visiting Fellow Prof. Yau Shing-tung, Fields Medallist, director of the Institute o f M a t h e m a t i c a l Sciences, a n d professor o f m a t h e m a t i c s at H a r v a r d U n i v e r s i t y, v i s i t e d the colleg e as t h e S i u L i e n L i n g Wo n g V i s i t i ng F e l l ow f r o m 1 7 t h t o 2 9 t h January 2002. Theatrical Performances 50th Anniversary Musical Obsession, a m u s i c a l w r i t t e n , composed, a n d p e r f o r me d b y C h u ng C h i students, was p r em i e r ed o n 9 t h January 2002 at K w a i Tsing Theatre. The students also t ook care of all the lighting, costumes, sets, as w e l l as t i c k e t i ng a nd p r o m o t i on for the musical, w h i c h is about a ma n w h o wakes u p after seven years i n a coma. Over 130 s t u d e n ts f r o m d i f f e r e nt d i s c i p l i n es w e r e i n v o l v e d i n t he p r o d u c t i o n, w i t h Prof. V i c t or C h a n W a i - k w o n g f r o m the D e p a r t m e n t o f M u s i c as t h e i r m u s i c adviser, a n d Mr. Patrick Pak Yiu-charn, a college a l umn u s, as d r ama adviser. Golden Jubilee Concert A l u m n i , staff, students, a nd friends of C h u n g C h i College attended th e college's Go l d e n Jubilee Concert on 25th Ma r c h at the Concer t H a l l of the H o n g K o n g C i ty Ha l l . The event attracted an audience of over 1,000. The concert featured performances b y the H o n g K o ng Sinfonietta, the Ch u ng Chi College Choir, the Chinese Mu s ic Virtuosi, a n d soloists. B o t h Chinese a n d We s t e rn music was p l a y ed on that evening. Carnival The Go l d en Jubilee Ca r n i v al was h e ld o n 3 rd Ma r ch at the L i n g n an Stadium . The c a r n i v al f ea t u r ed p o n y rides, f am i ly a nd c h i l d r en ' s games, game booths, Chinese handicraft demonstrations, performances of d r a g on dance a nd A f r i c an d r ums. 66
