CUHK's EMBA Programme No. 1 Again in Asia A celebration reception took place on 12th November 2002 at the University''s MBA Town Centre in Central. Speeches were made respectively by Prof. Ambrose King, vice-chancellor; Dr. Alice Lam, chairperson of the University Grants Committee; Prof. T.S. Lee, dean of business administration ; Prof. Andrew Chan, director of the EMBA Programme ; and EMBA alumnus Mr. Ivan Pong. Seen here are (from left) Prof. P.W. The University's Executive M B A Programme was, for the second time running, ranked the best i n A s i a, a n d 20th w o r l d w i d e, b y the London-based magazine Financial Times. The second Financial Times Top 50 ranking of Executive M B A programmes, released on 1 4 t h O c t o b e r 2002, w a s b a s ed o n t he responses of t wo questionnaires: one for the b u s i n e ss schools, a n d the o t h er f or t h e ir a l u m ni w h o h ad been i n the wo r k p l a ce for three years after g r a d u a t i o n. The r a n k i n gs were compiled on the basis of responses f r om 69 b u s i n e ss s c h o o ls a n d 2,155 o f t h e i r graduates. Prof. A n d r ew C.F. Chan, director of the EMBA Programme, expressed that they were t h r i l l ed about the t op r a n k i n g, yet r a n k i ng was not their most i mp o r t a nt mission. ' Wh at is i m p o r t a nt is m a i n t a i n i ng o ur a b i l i ty to n u r t u re wo r l d - c l a ss ma n a g eme nt talent to meet the needs of H o n g K o n g, m a i n l a nd Ch i na and the region,' he said. Prof. Ambrose King,' We are most encouraged by this piece of good news, which comes barely three months after our MBA programme was ranked top in the Asia Pacific by Asia Inc.' Prof. T.S. Lee, '...our EMBA Programme has scored high in all international areas covered by the Financial Times survey. This is because we recognized, at a very early stage, that the trend towards globalization would be a fact, not merely a possibility. To survive and thrive in this fast-paced and highly competitive world, senior executives need to have a global perspective.'
