Th e 59 th Congregatio n New Council Chairman Confers MB ChB Degrees on 156 Medical Graduates The59th congregation for the conferment of degrees was held o n 24th October 2003 at the Sir R u n Run H a l l on campus. Presiding at the ceremony was Dr. Edgar W.K. Cheng, the n ew chairman of the Un i ve r s i ty Council, w h o conferred Bachelor of Me d i c i ne a nd Bachelor o f Su r ge ry degrees o n 156 me d i c al graduates. Degree conferment of the medical graduates was held earlier this year because the General Me d i c al Co u n c il of the U K h ad decided to require non - EU doctors qua l i f y i ng after 31st October 2003 to pass an examination before they can register. Awa r d i ng the medical graduates of 2003 their degrees before that day w o u l d enable t h em t o enjoy the p r i v i l e g es o f f u l l a nd p r o v i s i o n al registration right away.
