Professorial Appointments Professor of Social Work Prof. Tang K w o n g - l e u ng has been appointed professor of social w o r k f r om 2nd July 2003. P r o f . T a n g obtained his Bachelor of Social Sciences and Master of Social Work from the University of H o n g K o n g , h i s Master of Science and Bachelor of Laws f r om the University of L o n d o n, h is Mas t er of L aws f r om the University of Cambridge i n 1992, and his Ph.D. i n social policy and social welfare f r om t he U n i v e r s i ty of C a l i f o r n ia at Berkeley i n 1993. Prof. Tang worked as project coordinator a n d / or centre director of the S.K.H. Lady Ma c Leho se Cen t re and the B r a d b u ry Commu n i ty Development Centre of the Neighbourhood Advice Action Council i n the early 1980s. He then taught at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 1985 to 1989, and was chair of the Social Wo rk Programme at the University of Northern British Columbia, Canada, before joining CUHK. He was called to the bar by Gray's I n n and the H i g h Cou rt of England and Wales i n 1992, and by the Supreme Court of Hong Kong i n 1993. Professor of Chemical Pathology Prof. Dennis Lo Y u k - m i ng has been appo i n t ed professor o f c h e m i c a l p a t h o l o gy f r om 1st October 2003. He joined C U HK as associate professor i n the Department of Chemical Pathology i n 1997, becoming professor i n 2000, and associate dean (research) of the Faculty of Medicine i n 2002. Prof. Lo obtained his BA and M A from Cambridge University, his B.M. B.Ch., D.Phil., and D M from Oxford University. He was Wellcome Med i c al Graduate F e l l ow a n d t h e n W e l l c o me Ca r e er De v e l o pme nt Fe l l ow at John Radcliffe Ho s p i t al i n the U K f r om 1990 to 1994. Subsequently he was university lecturer at t he U n i v e r s i ty of O x f o r d a nd t he N u f f i e l d D e p a r t m e n t of C l i n i c a l Biochemistry of John Radcliffe Hospital. Prof. Lo's current research interests i n c l u de foetal nucleic acid i n ma t e r nal plasma/serum, t umou r - de r i ved neucleic acid i n plasma/serum, and other aspects of circulating nucleic acids. He ho l ds a patent on Non-invasive Prenatal Diagnosis issued i n the USA and Australia. Professor ofObstetrics and Gynaecology Prof. Tony Chung Kwo k - h u ng has been appo i n t ed professor o f o b s t e t r i cs a n d gynaecology f r om 1st October 2003. H e j o i n e d T h e Chinese Un i v e r s i ty as lecturer i n 1989. He became chairman of the D e p a r t me nt of Ob s t e t r i cs a nd Gynaecology i n 2000 and associate dean (education) of the Faculty of Medicine i n 2002. Prof. Chung obtained his MB BS f r om Sydney Un i v e r s i ty i n 1977 and his M D f r om C U HK i n 1997. He was i n f am i ly medicine practice i n Newcastle, Australia, and subsequently registrar i n obstetrics a nd g y n a e c o l o gy at Ro y al Newc a s t le Hospital f r om 1981 to 1988.
