Formed i n 2000 and comprising over 30 faculty members, it is led by Prof. Jack Cheng, pro-vice-chancellor, and Prof. He ng Ph e n g - Ann of the Depa r tment of Computer Science and Engineering. The team was also the first to use the Chinese v i s i b le h u m a n datasets i n the development of v i r t ual anatomy, v i r t ual acupuncture, and v i r t ual arthroscopy. The contesting teams were asked to de v e l op a p r ac t i cal business case that carries the idea of 'Vision and Fusion i n t he Pea rl R i v er De l t a' b y w r i t i n g an investment proposal to solicit funds to the t une of HK$ 10 m i l l i o n f r om p o t e n t i al investors for starting u p a new business i n the Pearl River Delta Region. Winner of the L'Orea l e-Strat Challenge Three final-year accounting students — Danny Yung, Dorothy Ng, and Larry Chu — were the H o n g Ko ng w i n n e rs of the L'Oreal e-Strat Challenge organized by French beauty products company L'Oreal. This year's competition required students to p u t themselves i n the v i r t ual d r i ve r 's seat of a leading global cosmetics company f a c i ng r e a l - t i me ma r k et s i t u a t i o ns to c omp e te a g a i n st f o u r o t h er v i r t u a l cosmetics businesses. The team beat five teams f r om other universities i n Hong Kong and was placed seventh wo r l dw i d e. A total of 800 teams f r om all over the w o r l d were selected to participate i n the competition i n Ap r il 2003. Gold Award in HKSA Final Professional Examination Jessie Hu i, a year 2000 graduate f r om the C U H K P r o f e s s i onal A c c o u n t a n cy Programme, was the Go ld Awa rd winner of t he June 2003 F i n a l P r o f e s s i o n al Examination of the Ho ng Kong Society of Accountants (HKSA).
