T h e n, as n o w , i n t e r n a t i o n a l i z a t i on goes h a n d i n h a n d w i t h o ur m i s s i on to preserve, enrich, a nd p r omo te Chinese c u l t u re a nd is i n fact n o u r i s h ed b y o ur Ch i n e se i n t e l l e c t u al h e r i t a g e. I n d e ed C h i n e se c u l t u r e has f l o u r i s h ed a n d p r o s p e r ed at o u r u n i v e r s i ty a n d w i l l c o n t i n ue to do so i n the f u t u r e. One of our missions, again i n the w o r d s of o ur Fo u n d i ng Vice-Chancellor, is ‘to combine t r a d i t i on a nd mo d e r n i t y, a nd to b r i n g together Ch i na a nd the West (結合傳統 與現代,融會中國與西方) ’ . T o d a y , the Chinese University is one of the premiere centres for Chinese studies i n the w o r l d, w i t h scholars c o m i ng f r om all o v er to learn and conduct research. O u r Chinese intellectual heritage is i ndeed one of the U n i v e r s i t y ' s s t r o n g e st c o m p e t i t i ve advantages. ...internationalization goes hand in hand with our mission to preserve, enrich, and promote Chinese culture and is in fact nourished by our Chinese intellectual heritage. Indeed Chinese culture has flourished and prospered at our university and will continue to do so in the future. . . . To d a y , the Chinese University is one of the premiere centres for Chinese studies in the world, with scholars coming from all over to learn and conduct research. Our Chinese intellectual heritage is indeed one of the University's strongest competitive advantages. T h e p r i m a r y m o t i v a t i o n f o r i n t e r n a t i o n a l i z a t i on h as b e e n, a n d r ema i n s, t hat i t enhances s i g n i f i c a n t ly t h e e d u c a t i o n of o u r s t u d e n t s. B y b r i n g i ng together, o n the same campus, y o u n g p e o p le f r o m a ll c o r n e rs of t he earth, they w i l l have the o p p o r t u n i ty to l i v e w i t h a nd l e a rn f r om one another.
