We s h a l l m a k e i t p o s s i b le f o r a g r e a t er n umb er of o ur students to go abroad as e x c hange s t u d e n ts f or at least a t e r m. T h i s we do b y f o r g i n g n ew e x c hange agreements w i t h ma i n l a nd and overseas u n i v e r s i t i e s , a n d s e c u r i n g m o r e s c h o l a r s h i p s u p p o r t f o r o u t b o u n d s t u d e n t s . We s h a l l c r e a te as m a n y o p p o r t u n i t i es as possible f or all those w h o w i s h t o b e n e f i t f r o m s u c h a n e x p e r i e n c e. The Chinese Un i v e r s i ty has an i n t e r n a t i o n a l r e s e a r ch r e p u t a t i on a n d a s t r o ng research culture. Whereas o u r r e s e a r c h e r s w i l l c o n t i n ue to en s u re l o c al relevance i n their w o r k so t hat t he ir f i n d i n gs can be t r a n s l a t ed i n t o t a n g i b le b e n e f i ts f or H o n g K o n g , w e s h a l l r e d o u b l e o u r e f f o r t s t o f o r g e n e w l i n k s a n d e n g a g e i n c o l l a b o r a t i v e r e s e a r ch w i t h academic centres of e x c e l l e n c e w o r l d w i d e . We s h a l l e s t a b l i sh j o i n t l a b o r a t o r i es w i t h nonlocal partners to p o o l resources, achieve c r i t i c al mass, a nd c u l t i v a te o u r special strengths. We shall participate i n mu l t i- c e n t re r e s e a r ch o n t o p i c s of g l o b a l s i g n i f i c a n ce a n d c o n t r i b u t e t o t h e ad v an c ement of h u m a n k n ow l e d g e. We shall also e x p a nd o p p o r t u n i t i es f or our research students to be v i s i t i ng scholars at research i n s t i t u t i o ns abroad. By t a k i ng p a rt i n national, regional, and global collaboration, our researchers and research students w i l l be inspired b y the cross-fertilization of ideas a nd stay …To thrive in its f i f t h decade and to respond effectively to the demands of the times requires a strategy of heightenedi n t e r n a t i o n a l i z a t i o n .... We shall strive to create a truly international campus with a multilingual and multi-cultural milieu for those who come here in pursuit of academic excellence and personal growth— We shall make it possible for a greater number of our students to go abroad as exchange students for at least a term.…We shall create as many opportunities as possible for all those who wish to benefit from such an experience.
