Mr. Lee Woo Sing, an eminent entrepreneur in the finance industry, is the founder of Shun Loong Group and currently non-executive director of Grand Investment International Ltd. and director of Grand Finance Group Company Ltd. He was elected a founding committee member of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Ltd. Mr. Lee is also honorary adviser to the Chinese Gold and Silver Exchange Society, honorary president of the Institute of Securities Dealers Ltd. and honorary consultant of Hong Kong Stockbrokers Association Ltd. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to the advancement of Hong Kong as an international financial centre. Mr. Lee was a member of the Selection Committee of the First and Second HKSAR Government and is currently chairman of the Shanghai Fraternity Association Hong Kong Ltd. (SFA), honorary president of the United Zhejiang Residents Association (HK) Ltd. and the Ning Po Residents Association. In 2003, Mr. Lee was appointed honorary professor of the Colleges of Economics and Humanities of Zhejiang University. He is an honorary member of the Executive Committee of School Affairs, Shanghai Tongji University. In 1993, backed by Mr. Lee and other directors, the SFA made a magnanimous donation of HK$13.5 m illio n towards the establishment of the Shanghai Fraternity Association Research Services Centre on CUHK campus. Mr. Lee was appointed to the Board of Trustees of Shaw College in 1997. With his support, the SFA joined hands with the University to launch the Home in Hong Kong project which led to the formation of the CUHK Mainland Undergraduate Association, the first of its kind among local tertiary institutions. Mr. Li Fook Hing is a distinguished philanthropist and a long-serving member of the Board of Trustees of Chung Chi College. Mr. Li is enthusiastic in education service and has close connections with Sheng Kung Hui. He has served on the school councils of a number of Sheng Kung Hui secondary schools. Mr. Li has also made important contributions to the medical service sector. He is a member of the Hospital Governing Committee of Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospitals, and was chairman of the committee from 1997 to 2000. He is also a member of the Hospital Governing Committee of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital and United Christian Hospital, and a Trustee of CWM/Nethersole Fund. Mr. Li was awarded the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 1987. Mr. Li joined the Board of Governors of Chung Chi College in 1968, which was later reorganized as the College Board of Trustees, and has rendered distinguished service on the board for over 36 years until 2004. He was chairman of the board from 1981 to 1987. Under his outstanding leadership, the college accomplished several important projects. Mr. Li helped to launch the Siu Tao Fung Shan Project which continuously generates revenue for the college. He has also made magnanimous donations to the University, including in the form of scholarships for mainland students. Mr. Mong Tak Yeung, David is vice-chairman of Shun Hing Group and chairman of the Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund. Mr. Mong gained a thorough understanding of the Japanese management style as well as hands-on experience in advanced technology at Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. in Japan. He joined Shun Hing Electronic Trading Co. Ltd. as executive director in 1991. He is currently vice-chairman of Shun Hing Group. Mr. Mong has contributed much of his expertise and resources to the medical, educational, management and electronics sectors. Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund has donated over HK$400 million over the years in support of projects in the fields of education, medical services, sports, arts and culture, and environmental protection in Hong Kong, mainland China, and overseas. Mr. Mong has also been a staunch supporter of the Chinese University. The Shun Hing Institute of Advanced Engineering was established in 2004 with a generous donation from the Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund. He also serves as the founding chairman of the advisory board of the institute and member of the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Engineering, and Advisory Committee of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences of the University. 2 2 Chinese University Bulletin Spring • Summer 2005
