E x h i b i t i o n s A rt Museum Exhibitions • Shimmering Colours: Monochromes o f the Yuan to Qing Periods — The Zhuyuetang Collection is held from 5th March to September 2005 at the East-wing Gallery. This exhibition features some 150 items of monochrome ware produced in Jingdezhen in Jiangxi Province, dating from the Yuan to the Qing dynasties (14th-19th centuries). The exhibits demonstrate the evolution in firing technique and the development of glaze colours in monochrome ware since the 14th century. All the exhibits are selected from t he r e n ow n e d Z h u y u e t a n g collection of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kan. The great number of items encompassing all varieties of monochromatic glaze colours makes this collection one of the most important in the world for reference purposes. • L o fty M ou n ta ins : Landscape Paintings from the A rt Museum Collection ran from 3rd March to 8th May 2005 at the West-wing Gallery. This was an exhibition of some 80 landscape paintings dating from the Ming dynasty to the modern era (14th-20th centuries), a period when distinctive styles emerged as artists explored the art of landscape painting. The exhibits are selected from the Art Museum collection. They include acquisitions such as those from the former Banyuan collection and generous gifts from the Bei Shan Tang Foundation.
