Later it set u p c amp u s at r e n t ed residences i n Ca i n e R o a d a n d th e A n g l i c a n Joseph Charles Hoar e M e m o r i al Ch u r ch i n L ower A l b e rt Road. I n 1956, the college m o v e d to its present site i n the M a L i u Sh ui valley. P r o f . L e u n g Y u e n - sang, h e a d o f C h u n g C h i Co l l e g e , s a i d, ‘ C h r i s t i a n e d u c a t i on is characterized b y an emp h a s i s o n l i b e r a l arts e d u c a t i o n: ' ' l i b e r a l” referring to the p r o v i s i on o f " g e n e r a l k n o w l e d g e a n d i n t e l l e c t u al s k i l l s " , also k n o w n a s " g e n e r a l education"; a nd "arts " s i gn i f y i n g the cultivation of mo r a l character w h i c h includes the r e n d e r i ng of social service. C h u n g C h i n a t u r a l l y i n h e r i t e d this legacy: even i n its earliest c u r r i c u l um , equal w e i g h t was g i v e n to the arts a nd science, as w e l l as social service. A n d students were r e q u i r e d to e n r o l o n g e n e r al e d u c a t i on courses; art s students h a d to choose a science elective w h i l e science s t u d e n ts h a d to take an arts elective. Th i s c u r r i c u l u m design does far more than instil professional knowledge : i t c u l t i v a t e s d i f f e r e n t i n t e l l e c t u a l s k i l ls a n d e x p a n ds v i s i o n t h r o u g h e x p o s u re t o t he idea s a n d v a l u es o f d i v e r se a c a d em i c areas.
