Committee for Health Protection and Promotion The CHPP is responsible for making recommendations on health policies, and formulating and implementing action plans on campus. It also coordinates the efforts of different CUHK units to keep illness at bay. The origin of the committee, however, lies in something more immediate. In 2003, when SARS broke out in Hong Kong, the SARS Task Force was set up to advise the University and implement preventive measures on campus. It was later renamed the Committee on Health Promotion and Protection to Some Health Promoting Units at CUHK • Advisory Committee on Health Promotion and Protection (ACHPP) • Committee on Health Promotion and Protection (CHPP) • University Health Service (UHS) • School of Public Health • The Colleges • Centre for Health Education and Health Promotion • Office of Student Affairs - Student Counselling and Development • WHO Collaborating Centre for Sports Medicine and Health Promotion • Centre of Research and Promotion of Women's Health (CRPWH) • The CUHK - Jockey Club Centre of Osteoporosis Care and Control • Centre for Emerging Infectious Diseases • Hong Kong Mood Disorders Centre • Staff Association of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUSA) • University Safety and Environment Office (USEO) • School of Chinese Medicine • The Nethersole School of Nursing reflect not only vigilance against certain diseases, but also a proactive approach to health in general. Prof. Cheng pointed out that all sectors of the campus community are represented in the CHPP. There are members from health-related units, administrative units, staff unions, student unions, the Colleges and the Office of Student Affairs etc. The ACHPP advises the University on matters relating to health promotion and collaborates with external organizations such as the WHO on health promotion. 9 Local Actions Global Tasks
