Croissants Anyone? A month-long internship with BNP Paribas gave us a unique opportunity to work in a surprisingly diverse environment. The staff there were recruited from virtually all parts of the world! Both of us knew little French but it did not keep our colleagues away. We were offered snacks like croissants on Fridays and invited to lunch. And when they saw us stuck in work, they would offer help. We really appreciated it as our colleagues were very busy people who had to work from 9 am to at least 8 pm. They couldn’t afford longer breaks than running to a coffee machine nearby, but they still managed to squeeze time for us. Placed under the Quantitative Research and Development team of Equities & Derivatives, we were charged with the responsibility of liquidity management and bank products research. These tasks were very rewarding and served well as a bridge between our studies and possible careers. What else could we have asked for? To stay longer!
